We develop Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences.
We’ve been building Augmented Reality since 2008. Adding meaningful layers to the world around you and giving you new ways of interacting with it. AR is quickly becoming the new interface to the world and we develop the apps to make that transition as seamless as possible for you.
VR is an important subset of AR. It’s less about interaction with your immediate environment and more about learning, playing and discovering in parallel realities. Now that VR hardware has become mature in the form of for example HTC Vive VR glasses or Google Daydream VR, we are able to build new worlds and create the greatest user experiences imaginable. In VR we create entirely new worlds for you. Fresh places to learn, places to be amazed, places to make connection with others.
Blending these technological realities with biological ones in a useful, convincing and engaging way is a challenge that requires the usage of tons of technology.
For the development of successful, solid Mixed Reality experiences we are very happy to use the power and versatility of the Unity 3D game engine.
If your company is interested in hearing, seeing and (or) feeling what VR and AR are, we’d like to give you first hand experience with our inspirational sessions.
Who we are
Theo is the lead wizARd at Platipus. He loves all sorts of magic. So he has a lot of spells, writes his own spells and he’s not afraid to combine spells either. Because in his words; “great magic + great magic = even greater magic”.
Coen combines the arts of technology, creativity, support, diplomacy, and graphics while working closely with the wizARd.
Yorick was a great intern at Platipus so we were glad to employ him when he had graduated and we decided to expand. Yorick is trained as an animator and is currently focusing on the development of e-learnings.
Thomas de Fretes
Thomas is our youngest Unity Certified Developer. Thomas is in general a very enthusiastic guy, with a wide range of interests and hobbies. Professionally he is specialized in creating AR and VR experiences.

And about our name..
“A Platypus is an egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal. A water/land duck. What does that have to do with AR? A platypus lives in the water and on the land. A foot in both words, this might sound familiar to many AR developers. Augmented Reality does just that, bridges the gap between two worlds, the real and the digital” -junaio
